What can I say to help new internet marketers that hasn’t already been said before? I’m sure I can say something, and that anyone will find this article helpful, even pros who have been doing it for years.
First, let me explain the basic ways you can market to people, or the categories of ways you can attract customers, through getting traffic to a website or page.
You can use SEO to appear naturally in the search results on Google, Bing, Yahoo, or on social media search engines like Facebook or You Tube.
The main search engine by far is Google, and this is the one everyone talks about, almost as if the others didn’t exist.
The other search engines do exist though, and it is worth your while learning how the less well known ones work as well, because getting found in a popular You Tube search is just as good, depending on the search volume.
You can check the exact match search volume of different phrases by using the Google Adwords keyword planner. This used to be called the Google keyword tool, but for some reason they scrapped that.
It’s a bit harder to use than the old keyword tool, and so new that I don’t feel like I know how to describe how to use it, but it’s fairly self explanatory.
You just look up the search volume of different phrases, you want to check the exact match search volume results, and you want to be looking at search volumes in the thousands for it to be very effective if you manage to rank first on the first page for that search.
This is a really hard thing to do, and there are so many factors that go into ranking a site, I haven’t got room to go into it here, and in fact you would have to pay me something to spend the time needed to tell you everything I have learned about SEO over the past five years.
If you want to do that, send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org and ask for some free advice, and also ask about my affordable internet marketing coaching services, particularly SEO advice and coaching.
Paid Advertising Tips
There is also a huge amount to know about advertising using companies like Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, or other alternatives.
Those are the two main ones, as they are the two largest sites in the world. There’s a whole bunch of factors which lead to you getting a low cost per click.
You need to get a good quality score, which comes from having a high quality website with good SEO, that is easy to navigate, that answers the buyer’s query and that provides quality products and services.
You also get a better quality score if you have a good click-through rate, which means that a large percentage of the amount of people who see your ad click on it.
You can get a better click-through rate by only advertising at the top of a Google search, with an ad title that exactly matches the search.
If people see a company that is selling exactly what they were looking to buy, they will often click on that result, although studies show that people generally prefer to click on the organic or natural results.
The hardest part of PPC advertising is making a ROI, or return on investment. Due to the fact that it costs a dollar per click give or take, and that you usually get a conversion rate of about 5% or less, you have to make a profit of over twenty dollars at a bare minimum on average when you make a sale.
Beginners may find it really hard to even find a way to sell a product that will earn them that much of a profit, when they may be promoting an Amazon or Clickbank affiliate product, and the percentage given to the affiliate is less than 10% to start off with, on Amazon at least.
I have actually had some luck with selling a few products on Amazon, I made some basic Facebook pages with not much on them except the right title, a few hundred random fans and a skilfully placed affiliate link.
I don’t concentrate on affiliate marketing though, I mainly sell my own services, which include just about everything I’ve mentioned on this page and much more.

Social Media Marketing Tips
I can’t leave out social media marketing, as that’s my main area of expertise, and something which is my most popular method of marketing, because it doesn’t feel like marketing.
What I mean is, I fell like I’m interacting with my friends when I post on one of my pages, because it looks like a public profile, even though my fans aren’t people I know.
Some people go to great lengths to engage and interact with their fans, I just try to get a huge number of targeted or random fans and followers and post or tweet regularly.
I try to post quality content, such as information that people need to help them make more money with their sites, such as this post.
I do my best to keep a strong presence on all of the largest sites in the world, Facebook, Google, Twitter, You Tube, Blogger, Google Plus, Linked In, Stumble Upon, Yahoo Answers, The Warrior Forum (for internet marketers), etc.
When I’m trying, I get more traffic from social media than the other two methods mentioned above. I know I can help you with your social media marketing campaign.
I can help by making you a Facebook page that looks great and has all the best free apps, by getting you targeted or random likes and followers, by creating engaging content for you, web design, video production, pretty much anything you want me to do.
